How Did Slavery Start?
Slavery in America began when the first African slaves were brought to the North American colony of Jamestown, Virginia, in 1619, to grow the crop tobacco.
How Were Plantation Owners Picked (started)?
Plantations started once tobacco was imported. Plantation Owners started once slaves were transferred and when they needed help growing crops.
How Were Slaves Treated?
Slaves were treated with disrespect and rudeness. They ate in slave homes and were not served food. They describe clothing as coarse and they did not have much coverage for winter.
How Were Plantation Owners Treated?
Plantation Owners were treated with respect and great power. They ate with the Governor and were served the finest. Their clothing was described as neat, soft, strong, and polished and were never left cold in the winter.
How Are They Similar?
Both plantation owners and slave, mostly settle home on a plantation. They both got "what they really need".
Punishment For Slaves!
When slaves "misbehave", they got a really BAD punishment.
How Are They Different?
A slave and plantation owners are VERY different. Slaves were not wealthy while plantation owners were very wealthy. Slaves did not get as much clothing as planter/plantation owners. Slaves did not get much food either. While plantation owners did.

Is Slavery Still Active?
Slavery is active in African nation of Mauritania. The slavery that is active, is probably not as bad as the slavery in the 18th century.Millions of Africans continue to live as slaves. The transatlantic slave-trade was officially abolished more than two centuries ago yet they continue.
Indentured servants had the same job as slaves. They were paid at the end of a short or long period of time. They got paid with land, money, food, and clothing.
