April 28th, 2010 Samuel Finley Breese Morse and the telegraph
Inventor of the first electric telegraph
1791-1872
In about 1838 the telegraph was invented
"If the presence of electricity can be made visible in any part of the circuit, I see no reason why intelligence may not be transmitted instantaneosly by electricity."



Telegraph impacted:
seperation between communication and transportation
developed time zones
growth of electric goods industry
communication seperates from transportation
the first form of electric communication
did not have to rely on traveling conditions
helped in the civil war





Time Zone Development
US Naval Observatory provided the time information to Washington DC using the telegraph
Decided to synchronize time using telegraph to places all around the world
Growth of Electric Goods Industry
inspired other people to make electric goods
electric poles

Samuel Morse helped the revolution of electronic goods
telegraph made it a lot easier and faster to communicate
established time zones
We wouldn't have alot of the things that we have today if Samuel wouldn't have invented the telegraph
