Transcript of WHY DID THE AZTECS DISAPPEAR?

Conrad-Demarest
The Aztecs followed a similar rule as that of Conrad-Demarest. They fell after a series of interior decay and exterior invasions.
Spanish Invasion
Disease
Smallpox was introduced to the Aztecs after the first Spanish invasion, killing up to 25% of the Aztec population due to no immunity and no way to cure the disease.
Rivalries
Many tribes were angry with the leaders of the Aztec civilization with their rule.
Oppression and Persecution
Spaniards frequently oppressed the Aztecs after conquering Tenochtitlan. The Aztecs were forced into slavery and to assimilate into the Spanish way of life, eventually causing Aztec culture to disappear.
