H.G. Wells By Morgan Primavera
Who is H.G. Wells
H.G. Wells was a very famous author. Some of his most famous books are The Island of Doctor Moreau, The Time Machine and The War of the Worlds. He grew up in Bromely, England. His full name is Herbert George Wells. His birthday is September 21st, 1866. A day before mine!
Early life
Herbert George Wells was born on September 21st, 1866. His father was a professional cricket player and owned a hardware store. His parents were always scared for his unhealthy state because they did not want him to die young like his older sister. When he was sick, he would read many books by Charles Dickens, Johnathan Swift and Washington Irving. I think they are the people who inspired him.
His life as an author
H.G Wells first novel The Time Machine was famous overnight. That means it got famous very quickly. It was published in 1895. Another one of his famous books The War of the Worlds was published in 1898. His biggest inspirations were Charles Dickens, Johnathan Swift, Washington Irving.
His death
H.G. Wells died on August 13th, 1946 in London, United kingdom. He died of a heart attack at his friends flat in London. He was also a diabetic and co-founded Diabetes UK which is a charity that raises money for people with diabetes in the UK.On August 16th, 1946, he was cremated at Golders Green Crematorium and had his ashes scattered at sea near Old Harry Rocks.
My rating and review of the Time Machine
I rate the Time Machine with five stars because I like sci-fi and fantasy books. If you do not like sci-fi books I would NOT recommend this book to you. It is about the time traveler, a man who creates a time machine that sends him back in time. There, he is chased by cannibals, saves a creature named Weena. In the end, the Time Traveler escapes from the cannibals and takes another trip on his time machine, but this time, back home.
