K pop is a term used to loosely describe the modern form of popular music found in South Korea. K pop does not stick to one genre, it is all-encompassing and showcases a lot of different musical styles and visual elements.
Before the importance and increasing popularity of social media K-Pop was unheard outside of East and Southeast Asia. But in recent times K-Pop has become more accessible to the rest of the world, therefore more popular, because of social platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Tumblr, and Twitter.
Dance is a key element when it comes to KPOP music videos. Nearly all KPOP groups will incorporate a dance routine into their video.
"Formation Changing" is a dance move commonly used by groups with multiple singers. This technique involves the singers in the group to change positions with one another throughout their dance in synchrony.
Another type of choreography is called "Point Dance," in which the singers use repetitive and hooking movements. These are the key movements that stand out and are easy to remember that will most often match the characteristics of the song.

The clothes worn by the artists in their videos reflect the group's style and personality.
Fans are so influenced by the style of clothing worn by the singers that fashion brands will even release copies of clothing worn by the artists in their music videos.
For the female artists, most of their attire consists of patterned/printed clothing, (polka dots, stripes, flowers, hearts, cheetah and zebra print etc.), high heels/heeled shoes, skinny jeans, hats, lots of accessories along with high-waisted and short shorts.
For male artists, the fashion is more simple. Shirts with words/expressions on them, shiny shirts/pants, suits (with bow ties and dress shoes), high top shoes, deep cut shirts, snapbacks and like the female artists, a lot of accessories/bling. Some male artists will even wear eyeliner.
Since the successful release of Psy's Gangnam Style, the worldwide acceptance and popularity of the K-pop culture has incredibly multiplied.
Gangnam Style has attracted viewers with the flashy dance steps and was the first the single music video ever to exceed the 1 billion viewing mark on YouTube.
While global interest in K-Pop has been on the rise for the past few years, the data suggests views of Korean artists tripled in the year following the release of Gangnam Style. Here's a chart of monthly views on top K-Pop channels, including PSY:
The year before "Gangnam Style", official music videos from K-Pop artists were viewed over 2.2 billion times globally. The year following, that number jumped to over 7 billion views, 3x the viewership. In 2011, less than half the viewership on top K-Pop channels was from outside the Asia-Pacific region. Now, the majority of the watching is taking place outside the region. 91% of viewing in the past year was outside Korea.
