What needs to be accomplished? Where will it be accomplished? When should it be accomplished? What conditions need to be met? Concrete metrics for gauging progress and evaluating performance. How much? How many? How will I know when it is accomplished? Ensure resources - skills, funding, equipment, staff - are available to accomplish the goal. Goals need to stretch and challenge current capabilities. Goals that are perceived to be unreachable will lead to frustration. Attainable does not mean easy. Make sure each goal is consistent with other goals you have established and fits with your immediate and long-range plans. Deadlines for completion. The time frames create sufficient urgency and lead to action.
