Terry Fox
The greatest canadian

He was born on July 28, 1958 and passed away on June 28, 1981 due to his cancer coming back
He had two brothers and one sister (Fred, Darrell, and Judith)
His family moved to Surrey, British Columbia then settled in Port Coquitiam in 1969
He was a very enthusiastic player, played soccer, rugby and basketball as a kid
Terry was also very stubborn and if he didn't succeed at somthing he would try and try again to succeed at it
Contribution made
Terry decided in 1976 to run a marathon called the Marathon of Hope
he wanted to raise one dollar from each of Canada's 24 million people
in 1980 he began his Marathon of Hope , across the country in hopes to raise cancer awareness
After 143 days and 5,373 kilometers, Terry had to end his marathon because his cancer had spread to his lungs
he had fought to continue his race after he recovered but died 9 months later in June
The annual Terry Fox Run was first held in 1981 and has grown to more then 60 countries and has raised more then $650 dollars for cancer research
My reasons for choosing this person
I chose Terry Fox because as a child I was always so interested on how he was able to run even with a prosthetic leg and as I grew up I learned he was just an amazing person, and i thought for this assignment i should write it on Terry because he has not only inspired me but millions.
