He believed that you could only find happiness while studying nature and other simple things in life
What is the Dao?
According to Daoists, how should people discover how to behave?
People should discover to follow the Dao De Jing, a simple way of living.
Why did Laozi feel small agricultural villages were ideal communities?
Because it had little government or formal education system, and the villagers lived in peace and harmony.
What are Yin and Yang
Yin stands for the bright side of the mountain, Yang stands for the dark side. It is a symbol for peice and balance between good and evil.
Why do Daoists accept all things that occur
They believe theat all things occur in order to balance Yin and Yang.
Dao is the the law of nature. It is not only just laws of nature, it is the true laws of nature.
How did Laozi believe a ruler should rule?
He believed that rulers should take little control and do only what would help people achieve there natural desires.
What is wuwei? How does it relate to Daoism
Wuwei means action through non-action. It relates through the law that emporors should do little to help there country run smoothly.
How does Daoism influence Chinese society today?
Through chinese landscapes and paintings.
Highest good is like water. Because water excels in benefiting the myriad creatures without contending with them and settles where non would like to be, it comes close to the Way.
Of the best rulersthe people only know that they exist; the next best way to love and praise; the next they fear; and the next they revile. When the best rulers have done there tasks, the people all remark, 'We have done it ourselves!'
The more laws and edicts are imposed, the more thieves bandits there will be.
