Born To Die Song Analysis
Transcript of Born To Die Song Analysis
Symbolism- The song has symbolism because when Lana says " But I'm hoping at the gates they'll tell me your mine..." the gates represent heaven.
Song By Lana Del Rey
Presentation By: Shahadah Tobias
This song means a lot to me not only because it's by one of my favorite artists Lana Del Rey but it teaches me a lesson. Not to take life for granted. That life isnt always about having a crazy wild time. That you should have a real goal in life and try to accomplish it so can have a beter brighter future.
Each verse has a different rhyming pattern
The theme of the song is youth and living life because you never know when your life will end. So ty to have fun and do everything you wanted to do because you never know when you'll leave this world
Forshadowing-In the song she says the word "you and i a lot" and the word honey "honey" a lot which probably means she's talking about someone she knew from her past.
Hyperbole: "Oh my heart it breaks every step that i take"
She obviously doesnt mean every step her heart breaks. She's saying that her heart was crushed because someone she loved has left her. She doesn't kow how to cope and her heart was left broken.
When I hear this song it reminds me of the story the lovely bones. This song talks about dying and that's what happens to the protagonist. She was killed tragically and her family were so depressed they don't know what to do and how to move on from this. And that's how Lana is in the song she sounds depressed as she sings.
The mood of the song is you fell
while hearing it
The tone Lana Del Rey created is a mysterious, sad and also airy. Lana attempted the sad darker aspect of the song because the song reflcts one of the saddest times in her life.
Although the tone can appear as airy because when she sings " Come and take a walk on the wild side, let me kiss you hard in the pouring, you like your girls insane" the music gets lighter and higher.
The meaning behind this song is that when Lana Del Rey was younger she had boyfriend who was very ill and died
Now I'm dead and alone
I can't escape them anymore
They're coming back to haunt me
Oh my poor soul is escaping my body
All I see is demons galore
The conflict of the song is character vs self because of the mood of the song and the lyrics Lana sings. She sings in a sad dreary way. Someone in Her life dies and she doesnt know what to do with herself and she is very depressed.
She told The Daily Telegraph(a daily broadsheet newspaper in London) "There is a sense of lost underpinning things. I used to think if it was God's plan that I should be alone for so much of my life."
The Chorus& Bridge
We were born to die
She told Q Magizine "When I found someone that made me feel really happy, that was so different to the way I'd felt before in my life"
Idiom: "I can see but once i was blind" she's saying i was oblivious to the fact that i was paying attention to my surroundings
I think this song is important to others because they love the way her voice sounds when she sings it. Also even though the song talks about death you feel positive vibes from it. The song tells you to still have fun and enjoy life but it does come to end and it can come at any point.
They're uncontrollable now
I'm helpless they're possessing me
I apologize for everything I've done
I cannot break free
I yearned to be saved by anyone
