Transcript of Nikola Tesla
What is a Tesla Coil?
How Tesla Coils are used in every day life: spark plugs are used in all gasoline cars, lawn mowers, motorcycles and anything with gasoline motors
Tesla used photographic tricks to help sell his ideas
Born: July 10, 1856
Died: January 7, 1943 (age 86)
New York City
Came to the USA in New York on June 6, 1884, but moved to Colorado Springs in May 1899 and built a labratory
Invented: a motor powered by junebugs, three phase electric power, induction motor, wireless telegraphy, alternating current, neon lamp, remote control, and the tesla coil
motor powered by junebugs
three phase electric power
It's basically a high-frequency air-core transformer.
How does it work?
remote control boat used by Nikola Tesla
It takes voltage from the wall (120 Volts, 60 Hertz)
then it steps up the voltage to several million Volts and about a million Hertz.
That is why the sparks come off the coil.

The Tesla Coil used to be used in X-ray generation
Tesla coils can produce up to 4 million volts or more.
In the movie
the main character was experimenting with huge coils and at the end of the movie he destroyed the evil lady with them.
