Invented: a motor powered by junebugs, three phase electric power, induction motor, wireless telegraphy, alternating current, neon lamp, remote control, and the tesla coil

It's basically a high-frequency air-core transformer.

How does it work?

It takes voltage from the wall (120 Volts, 60 Hertz)
then it steps up the voltage to several million Volts and about a million Hertz.
That is why the sparks come off the coil.
