Talented, famous, and a great actor. All these words describe Morgan Freeman, who is a star in many movies. He is widely known and famous to many. He was ranked number 31 on the Top 100 movie stars of all time! Freeman even stars in commercials, television shows, and more. As of 2010, he was the host of the TV show, "Through the Wormhole. "
Morgan Freeman was born on June 1, 1937 in Memphis, Tennessee. he was the son of a teacher and barber. He has three older siblings. When an infant, Freeman was sent to his caring grandmother. The future movie star made his acting debut when at age nine. He then attended Broad Street High School. At age 12, he won a statewide acting competition. In 1955, he graduated high school and attended Jackson State University. He later served as a radar technician for the United States Air Force.
Morgan Freeman's first movie appearance was in 1971's Who Says I Can't Ride Rainbow? He was actually first known for in a soap opera and a PBS kids T.V show. He portrayed wise and fatherly characters. In 1997, he co-founded Revelations Entertainment. At age 65, he earned a private pilot's license. Freeman owns three air crafts, one being a jet. Surprisingly, he was featured on the opening track of B.o.B's second album, Strange Clouds. In July of 2009, he was one of the presenters at the 46664 concert celebrating Nelson Mandela's birthday at the Radio City Music Hall in New York. He is still working as of 2013 (Olympus Has Fallen and Oblivion).
Morgan Freeman was the son of a teacher and a barber. He eventually grew up with his grandmother. After he graduated from college, he was married twice, once in 1967 and the second time in 1984. With his second wife, Freeman adopted his step-granddaughter and raised her. Did you know that Freeman's ancestors were from Niger? According to DNA analysis, some of his ancestors were from Niger. His great-great grandparents were slaves that moved from North Carolina to Mississippi. Those same great-great grandparents were buried beside each other.
Morgan Freeman also was an activist and helper in ways. He donated money to Hurricane Katrina victims so that New Orleans could recover. Freeman is working on clips to help raise awareness of environmental issues.
