Transcript of WWI Trench Warfare-1min. speech-Laken

WWI - Trench Warfare Waterlogged trenches when you dig deep enough, you find... Your feet swell to two or three times their normal size and go completely dead. If you are fortunate enough not to lose your feet and the swelling begins to go down. It is then that the intolerable, indescribable agony begins. I have heard men cry and even scream with the pain and many had to have their feet and legs amputated. The cookhouse was flooded, and most of the food was uneatable.
There was nothing but sodden biscuits and cold stew.
The cooks tried to supply bacon for breakfast, but the
men complained that it smelled like dead men." you'll never think of bacon the same way again... http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/FWWfoot.htm http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/FWWwater.htm
