Transcript of Microwave Oven
& Caitlynne Adams What is your artifact? What is the purpose of your artifact? Who was the original inventor and when was your product invented? What are some innovations that this product has undergone since its original invention? Which of these areas of technology best classifies the artifact? How was it used when it originally was invented? How is it used today? How has this product impacted society in a positive way? Microwave Oven Microwave ovens purpose are to heat/cook food quickly. The original inventor was Dr.Percy Spencer and the microwave was invented around 1945, but was in markets in 1947. Microwaves have become much smaller so their is more space. They dont weigh 750 pounds. Heat food much faster and the majority of people have a microwave in their kitchens because they're not as much money as before. Nano Technology It has impacted society in a postive way by heating your food faster, less waste, restaurants can keep products refrigerator-fresh, and you save money. In time, microwaves were being used to dry cork, ceramics, paper, leather,
wet books and match heads. Now we use them to cook our food faster and we don't waist food because we can cook it again the next day. How has this product impacted society in a negative way? It has impacted society in a negative way because a microwave contains radiation that can affect your body by causing memory loss, tumors/cancer, but it is a minimum risk to get the radiation. Quote Chart Engineering: Created the design of the microwave and helped improve it. "I don't cook - I can cook - but I'm not very good. I like being asked over for dinner, because she can't cook either. We would starve if it weren't for modern technology. I know how to work a microwave, but love home cooked meals."
-Mark Mothersbaugh Mathematics: Involved numbers on the side in order to not over cook the food. Scientists: Figured a way to use radiation. Technology: Helped create the system and the tools in order to make it work.
