DAY What is the purpose of UN World Water Day ? When is UN World Water Day ? What is the focus of UN World Water Day for 2013 ? South Africa -Annually
-Attention for the need of freshwater
-Water publicly for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. -March 22nd 2013 -Theme: cooperation around the world -780 Million people
-One out of six people in the world do not have assess to clean water. 2.5 billion people worldwide do not have access to proper sanitation in the world. So, as one can see from the statistics many countries do not have the opportunity of having fresh water or adequate sanitation while others do.
Therefore it is important that we have the opportunity of having fresh water in the future. UN World Water Day is an event organized by the United Nations that focuses on this one day , on how to have freshwater in the future. STATISTICS What is the water situation in South Africa ? -86% How does the water situation in South Africa have an effect on South Africans ? How do South Africans spend their daily lives with this water crisis ? Water is a basic need for humans. In order to survive, water is an essential part of life. Due to the current water situation in South Africa, not all South Africans, have access to safe drinking water.
As a result, some South Africans may experience:
2. Drinking directly from water bodies
3. Safe Water not accessible in Rural areas.
4. A Time consuming task
The UN World Water Day therefore focuses to solve problems of water worldwide. Is there proper sanitation in South Africa ? In South Africa , 87% of all South Africans have proper sanitation. So, that is the current water and sanitation situation in South Africa. Now, imagine if you or someone from your country were to live in South Africa, in a rural area without access to safe drinking water or proper sanitation, how would it be ? 6 304 secondary schools, with 3 856 946 learners and 141 841 educators;
