They will help us to find out: What we already know Any misconceptions we may have What we would like to know Essential Questions What is healthy living?

“What nutrients are needed for energy for daily living?”

“What resources are available to assist in making nutritional choices?”

“How are your individual nutritional choices affected by families and community values?”

(Knox County Public Schools, 2012) These will help us measure your progress toward the learning goals You will receive feedback from the teacher, your peers and yourself You will have the opportunity to apply, analyze and create new knowledge using what you have learned about Healthy Living Enduring Understandings Demonstrate an awareness of the influence of family practices and values on your lifestyle choices (ActNow BC, 2010) At the end of the unit you will be able to: Design healthy meal plans Recognize that healthy eating, physical activity and emotional health are all part of a healthy lifestyle (ActNow BC, 2010) Identify effective strategies for making healthy food choices and for engaging in daily physical activity (ActNow BC, 2010) Recognize how family, peers and media influence their eating and physical activity habits and their emotional well being Demonstrate a knowledge of the six major nutrients and how they affect body functions (ActNow BC, 2010) References
