The drinking age used to be 18 Do you think it still should be? Drunk driving deaths among 16-20 year olds have plumbed 63 percent in the last 20 years. Most people think drinking is just a good time and that there's no harm. But what if it was your mom, dad, sibling, or best friend that was killed? In 2010, there has already been 3543 deaths in the US from drunk driving . Never drive with someone thats under the influence. As young adults, its still easy for us to fall into peer pressure, especially because some people are coming from far away and dont know anyone. Since the drinking age had changed to 21, the rate of 15-20 year olds that would be involved in a fatal car accident has dropped more than half. For each year that the start of drinking is delayed, the risk of alcohol dependence is lowered by 14 percent. I know this doesnt seem like a big deal, but it is.
