Transcript of Eric Walters, a Biography

1957 Eric Walters was born on March 3, 1957 in Toronto 1967 As Walters grew up in Western Toronto, he remarks that most of his friends ended in jail. This inspired him to become a teacher and leave a positive path for children to follow. 1973 Going through school, Walters realized there was no way he would become a teacher with the way the job market had been, and looked into psychology. 1979 Walters earned his honours degree in psychology from York University and started work as a social worker. 1979-1983 In the following years after his degree, via part-time studies, Eric acquired a Bachelor's and Master's degree in social work as well. 1983 Seeing as the market had opened up, Walters decided to go back after his teaching degree and got his Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Toronto, while working part-time in the evenings as a social worker too. 1993 This is when Eric's career as an author really
took off. He had been teaching a Grade 5 class at Vista Heights P.S. in Streetsville, Ontario, where many of the readers had been reluctant readers and writers. As encouragement, he wrote his first novel,
Stand Your Ground, and dedicated it to the class, hoping the children would become more involved in literature. 1999 Walters took a break from teaching
in 1999, and went to schools to
promote his novels, and talk to kids
about positive representation in
the community. 2009 In 2009, continuing his efforts to change the lives of children for the better, Walters founded the Creation of Hope. An organization that sponsors the lives of children in Kenya. 2010 In 2010, with his upcoming novels,
he walked 200km across the
Sahara Desert, before writing Just Deserts,
and climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro with his son
before writing, Between Heaven and Earth TALK ABOUT DEDICATION! TODAY Today Eric Walters lives in Mississauga, Ontario, with his wife Anita, his dogs Lola and Winnie the Poodle and his three children Christina, Nick and Julia. http://www.glogster.com/corkster858/wave-by-eric-walters/g-6mec1864mr840pf5lej4ja0 http://images.sodahead.com/polls/002446719/5187336_kid_behind_bars_image1_xlarge.jpeg http://marioguerrero.info/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/jobmarket.jpeg http://www.africanimmigrant.ca/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Social-Work.jpg http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_84AkoLnjtsM/S_rk7di4G2I/AAAAAAAAAUU/CboFRYQNzZs/s1600/diploma3.jpg http://daddydetails.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/tired-man-desk.gif http://schools.peelschools.org/_layouts/images/schoolimages/schoolbuilding/1560.jpg http://pages.interlog.com/~ewalters/pictures/Stand_Your%20Ground.jpg http://tdc.smgmedia.topscms.com/images/c8/e1/43b6231d4a71be4eae420ccc914e.jpg http://www.hwdsb.on.ca/media/news/images/12022009090755.gif http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/37/Mount_Kilimanjaro_2007.jpg http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-57hcPduoKOg/T66BjulBlEI/AAAAAAAAJLY/H99UxpBKWBc/s1600/westsaharaer1.jpg http://im.glogster.com/media/12/38/61/32/38613225.jpg
