Baseball Facts and Important People History Babe Ruth You have to know the rules to play. The basic rules that most people should know is that the batter has only 3 tries to swing the bat so he can hit the ball, but 4 tries to let the ball pass home plate. The ways to get out is if the batter hits the ball and one of the players on the opposite team catches the ball , or if the batter swings the bat 3 times and does not hit the ball. When the batter hits a grounder, he has to run to first base, but if the first baseman has the ball and touches the base before the batter/runner does, the batter/runner is out. Players on the field Since the field has 9 positions, there can only be 9 players playing defense (fielding). The positions are (1)pitcher, (2)catcher, (3)first baseman, (4)second baseman, (5)shortstop, (6)third baseman, (7)right fielder, (8)center fielder, (9)left fielder. But how many players can bat? Many people say 9, but they are wrong. The answer is 10 because there is an extra hitter. Henry Aaron Henry Aaron, the home run hitter. Who was Henry Aaron? Henry Aaron was a very good hitter. He hit more home runs than any other player in history. In 1974, he broke Babe Ruth's home run record with his 715th home run. Problem and Solution Years ago, a problem in baseball was when people did not know when it was a foul ball or a home run, so the solution was that people put long sticks between the foul ball area and the home run area. Question and Answer What is the origin of baseball?
Many people believe than baseball was based on the game cricket. Baseball was originally based on a game called ¨rounders¨. Sequence The sequence of pitching is very easy. There are five steps. First, you must have a good position of your feet. Second, the balance position. Then, a good power position. Then, the rotation of your body and your feet, and lastly, a good follow through. If you have everything good, your pitching will be excellent. Word Search I I O F V B U R T A I B A L L O O H Z Z
