Eaten before school around 6 AM
Usually eaten individually
Many students do not eat breakfast.
Could include waffles, pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, cereal, fruit, yogurt, toast, Poptarts, or cinnamon rolls
Smallest of the meals
Eaten at school with friends in the lunch room (cafeteria)
Students can buy/pack lunch
Could include sandwiches, chips, cookies, milk, juice, water, fruit, or vegetables
The biggest meal of the day

Eaten around 5 to 8 PM
Could include chicken, beef, pork, seafood, pasta, salad, soup, fruits or vegetables
The Restaurant Experience
When you arrive at a restaurant, the waiter seats you at a table.
Some restaurants have reservations or call ahead seating.
You do not sit at tables with other families. Each family sits at a separate table.
Many restaurants have booths, tables, or a bar to sit at.
The waiter comes to check on you several times throughout your meal.
The waiter brings the bill to your table when you finish your food.
Free drink refills are brought to your table if the waiter sees that you don't have much left.
During the Meal
Some restaurants take your money while you are at the table, and some restaurants have you pay at a desk at the front.
A tip of 15 to 20 percent is left sitting on the table for the waiter to pick up when he/she cleans off the table.

They also offer many healthy choices like juice, milk, fruit, salad, and baked potatoes.

Food in America is influenced by many different cultures around the world.
Immigrants to the U.S. brought and shared their traditional foods.
There are many restaurants in America where people can eat all of the different types of food.
The foods usually change from their traditional forms to fit American tastes.

Fast Food and Stereotypes
Probably the most prevalent type of cultural food.
Usually includes rice, beans, tortillas.
Tacos, enchiladas, burritos, quesadillas
Different types of mexican food tend to have the same ingredients in them with just different types of sauces or wrapped in another way.
Includes a lot of pasta.
Pizza was originally Italian but has changed a lot from the original.
Spaghetti, ravioli, lasagna
It has changed significantly.
Lots of noodles, fried foods, rice, and chicken.
Lo Mein, pot stickers, fried rice, egg rolls.
