By Dylan Kries Glasses Eyes can have disorders such as farsightedness and nearsightedness. It's pretty self explanatory. All farsightedness means is that you can see distant objects, but up close it's blurry. Vice versa for nearsightedness. Glasses can bend the light you see so your eyes can properly focus on an object. If a person's vision is 20/20 it means they have normal vision and don't need glasses. How do Eye Glasses and Contacts Work? How do Glasses and Contacts Work? Contacts Since contacts are directly on the eye, it's should be more natural vision rather than having space between causing occasionally distortion. Also, the peripheral vision is also better with contacts because it covers the whole eye as if it was another layer. Contacts are made of pliable hydrophilic plastics called hydrogels. Hydrogels absorb water to keep the lens moist. Overall contacts are better than glasses, just don't lose them! Some glasses look like they have horizontal scratches on both lenses. Those are actually called bifocals. People use bifocals when they can't see very well up close, or far away. Bifocals are one single lens that are broken apart into to two disassociated lenses that are different prescriptions. The top lens is made to help you clearly see distant objects. The bottom lens is for up close vision. Bifocals LASIK is a replacement for glasses and contacts. It is eye surgery consisting of lasers that reshape the cornea so it can focus on light properly. There are other types of eye surgery like this such as Radial Keratotomy or RK. Lasik My Passion I feel that people really don't realize how important glasses and contacts are to us. Without them, it would be a lot harder to do the normal things we do. So I felt that I needed to inform and educate people who don't realize how important glasses and contacts are.
