By: Bryce Paganas Gordon's Functional Health Patterns Marjory Gordon Marjory Gordon is a nursing theorist who created a nursing assessment theory known as Gordon's Functional Health Patterns. Dr. Gordon served as the first president of the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association. She has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing since 1977 and is considered a Living Legend! Health Perception- Health Management Pattern Describes clients perceived pattern of health and well being and how health is managed. Nutritional- Metabolic Pattern Describes clients pattern of food and fluid
consumption relative to metabolic need and pattern indicators of local nutrient supply. Elimination Pattern Describes patterns of excretory function (bowel, bladder, and skin) Activity-Exercise Pattern Describes pattern of exercise, activity,leisure and recreation and includes activities or daily living requiring energy. Sleep – Rest Pattern Describes patterns of sleep, rest, and relaxation, and includes patterns of sleep and rest/relaxation periods during the 24 hour day Cognitive- Perceptual Pattern Describes sensory perceptual and cognitive pattern. Self Perception- Self Concept Pattern Describes the self concept pattern and perceptions of mood and state. Role Relationship Pattern Describes the pattern of role of engagements and relationships. Sexuality Reproductive Patterns Describes patterns of satisfaction or dissatisfaction with sexuality and the reproductive pattern Coping Stress Tolerance Patterns Describes the general coping pattern and effectiveness of the pattern in terms of stress tolerance. Values- Belief Patterns Describes patterns of values, goals, or beliefs (including spiritual) that guide choices or decisions.
