What do they call it?

Where does it live?
Indo-Pacific and Atlantic Oceans
They externally reproduce
Releasing eggs into coral for protection
Once eggs are laid the males then abandon the females
They usually live in groups of 7 females and one male. When he dies a female will change genders to replace him.
They are found perched on the heads of coral.
What does it eat?
They eat small crustaceans and small fish
They typically live for a few years
Then reproduce and abandon their young... repeating the life cycle.
They believe it takes 3 weeks for the eggs to hatch and then the female abandon the young.
They are opportunistic and feed carnivorously
Are They Threatened?
To their luck Hawkfish in general are not an endangered species.
However they are among one of the most common fish to capture for domestication due to their extravagant colors and also given their aggressive nature.
To defend themselves they use coral reefs as their main protection against predators
They do not have a swim bladder
The full adult size is 3-5 inches
They got their name "hawk"fish by they way they circle the waters above their coral and perch on top of the coral to dive hunt their food.
