Mate Vincze's introduction
Transcript of Mate Vincze's introduction
And now I'm doing an MA in directing at the same university.
I love to tell stories about people.
Back in 2010 I made a presentation in English about my favorite TV show called Breaking Bad.
I got the Erasmus scholarship in the following year and I went to England to study filmmaking. We had to pitch our movie idea in front of the class and the tutors.
A great part of my life is about pitching, I love to speak in front of an audience with great enthusiasm. So I use presentations a lot.
I assumed that they knew nothing about Prezi and I was right. I could see it on their faces when my presentation started to move. Prezi helped me to win their full attention.
I'm a filmmaker, a film buff, a storyteller and a geek.
I'm extremely interested in technology and I'm searching for the possible ways of interactive storytelling, whether it's fiction, documentary, commercial or a reality show.
I've participated in a , which was supported by the European Community.
MEDIA CONTENT DEVELOPING WORKSHOP
It was more than a presentation, it was an analysis of character empathy in the pilot episode.
I've already been using Prezi before any of my classmates knew about it. Prezi proved to be a great way to impress the spectator. I loved to see their reactions and I didn't have to wait too long to see that kind of 'WOW' moment again.
I love to control the camera.
FARNHAM - UNITED KINGDOM
I wanted to create an interactive iPad video application
BUDAPEST - HUNGARY
I wanted to tell a story from three different perspectives where the viewer would have been able to switch between the characters, make choices for them, etc...
My mentor was Kornél Mundruczó, a famous hungarian director.
The financial support was not enough to shoot the film, but I've created this mood book.
BUT I WON'T GIVE UP!
I still want to find a generous sponsor to create this application.
I went to the USA to work at a summer camp as a filmmaking counselor.
In my opinion, Ustream does not advertise itself in Hungary, even though it has partly hungarian origins. I understand that it targets a broader market, so I would like to gain experience at the headquarters in San Francisco and find the answer to my main question: How did they manage to become so big?
Being the single international counselor there was a bit scary at first, but then I quickly realized I should make the most of it. Outside my working hours I started to observe my working environment.
Introduction of a crazed film and media buff student
I've graduated with a BA from the University of Theatre and Film Arts, Budapest.
I'm a 23-year-old student from Hungary.
I was not simply teaching filmmaking to kids between the age of 8-16, I also learnt a lot about American working habits during these 2-month stays. For example, the philosophy and marketing strategy of the camp, the atmosphere the camp director was able to create and maintain throughout the summer, the working conditions have all impressed me.
Although I love travelling to other countries, I like returning home even more from these trips with full of enthusiasm, experiences, influences and ideas. I do think that Budapest is a cool place, where we have the chance to create something new and something big.
My philosophy is to:
CAUSE OF MY APPLICATION
Although I'm interested in all three Hungarian companies, my main goal would be to receive a fellowship at:
WASHINGTON DC - UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
"Máté Vincze returned for a second summer of superb Filmmaking at TIC-DC, allowing his campers to experience every aspect of making a movie, from brainstorming and story-boarding to acting, sound production, cinematography and editing." - Emily Riedel (Camp Director)
"We were delighted to have Hungarian counselor Máté Vincze who took Filmmaking to a very high level this summer, helping large group to master the collaborative art of film." - Karen J. Rosenbaum (Camp Director)
I'M CERTAIN THAT PEOPLE WOULD LOVE TO INTERACT WITH THEIR CHARACTERS AND PLAY AN ACTIVE PART WHILE WATCHING.
My main ambition is to create a multi-faceted website where viewers would be absolutely involved in the storytelling, whether it's a short film, a live game show, a commercial or a documentary. I want to create an online place where you can experience a brand new treat. All the live streams would be open to the public by registration so they could instruct the characters on location, for example during a treasure hunt in the city. I would also shoot commercials for companies, which could make their products even more popular, since this new kind of interactive viewing experience would be memorable for the viewers.
First encounter with Prezi

Finding the untrodden way - MY WAY!
Stories matter for me.
BUDAPEST - HUNGARY
BUDAPEST - HUNGARY
Since I've always been interested in Ustream, I was happy to be able to work as the camera operator at one of the events that Ustream broadcast. It was the European Yoyo Championship at Petőfi Csarnok.
First real encounter with Ustream!
I can't really describe what I felt when I realized that we broadcast for more than 50.000 people in one single day.
For me it shows the power of live broadcast and the opportunities it holds, which I really want to utilize in my interactive video site concept.
I follow these bullet points in order to fulfill what I've dreamed about!
I love to direct.
I'm interested nearly in every aspects of filmmaking.
(Writing stories, directing, shooting, editing...)
So that's why Bridge Budapest Fellowship is so tempting for me.
Besides university, I make videos for multinational companies as a VJ, where I usually bump into hungarian products such as Prezi.
This modern CV introduces me in an interactive way. I've highlighted some important things from my life, which really show what kind of person I am, what motivates, influences me in my life.
My major was television production.
FOR ME INTERACTIVITY IS THE KEY FOR THE FUTURE.
