Most of the Australian towns and cities are situated on the banks of the rivers or at the coast.
So one of the most suitable means of transport is a ferry.
Here is a short video
Not far from Australia there is a small country - New Zealand
It looks like Italy upside down.
New Zealand - an upside down Italy
If you want to travel across the islands of New Zealand on your own to see the unusual nature you may want to rent a car or a van.
You can ride a bike
or just hitchhike
The first sections of a proposed 3,000km cycling network through some of New Zealand’s most spectacular countryside were officially opened in 2010.
Now we're coming back
to our motherland
the Russian Federetion.
Means of transport
This time we'll have to revise the words we learnt last lesson.
The Russian Federation
Russia is one of the most powerful and advanced countries.
The capital of the state is Moscow.
There are a lot of big cities in Russia: Krasnoyarsk, Kazan, … .
People of many nationalities live here.
Russian is the official language.
Russia is the biggest country in the world and the weather is very different in different parts of the country.
1. We think that first people began to _ _ _ _ horses 6,000 years ago.
2. The longest taxi journey was 34, 908 km! The driver had to _ _ _ _ _ from London to Cape Town in South Africa. It took him and the passengers four months.
3. Steve Fossett was the first person to _ _ _ round the world – on a hot air balloon!
4. Seb Clover is the youngest person to _ _ _ _ alone across the Atlantic. He was 15.
5. The longest bike race in the world is in Canada. People _ _ _ _ _

Fill in the missing words.
As you see there are a lot of means of transport. All of them have their advantaged and disadvantages. Can you describe any of them?
Boring, entertaining, interesting, dangerous, safe, comfortable, cheap, expensive, noisy, quiet, noiseless, quick, slow, fast, ...
Now we'll listen to Simon discussing pros and cons of travel with his friend.
Try to remember some new words to understand what they are speaking about.
"The pros of traveling by car would be mainly freedom. "
When you have 'freedom,' you can do whatever you want, whenever you want to do it.
"You can move around on a train, whereas you're stuck in a car.
When you are 'stuck' someplace, you can't move to where you want to go.
"Each of these forms of transportation have their pros and cons."
'Pros and cons' is another way to say 'positives and negatives.'
"When you travel by train, you're confined by schedule; when you travel by plane, you're confined to a small space. "
If you are 'confined' to something, you are restricted by its limitations
"The disadvantages of the plane is the lack of view and that stale air."
Stale air' does not feel fresh. It feels like it has recirculated many times.
What transport would you prefer to take to travel from one country to another?
I suggest that you should listen to the dialogue between two friends discussing the pros and cons (advantages and disadvantages) of some means of transport.
Mind that after listening and doing the task you will act out your own dialogues.
While listening you should answer the questions:
1) What is Simon's friend's favourite form of transportation?
a) automobile b) train c) airplane
2) What is mentioned as an advantage of trains?
a) You can stretch your legs.
b) They are safe.
c) You can get something to drink.
3) One bad thing about trains can be _______.
a) some trains are overcrowded
b) the price can be expensive
c) there are many smokers
4) One disadvantage of the car mentioned was _______.
a) high insurance costs b) traffic jams c) pollution
5) Simon doesn't like flying because of _______
a) the fear factor b) fuel surcharges c) the small seats
