Getting deeper... Fractions, Decimals and Percentages Ordering Fractions Order these fractions from smallest to largest: Expressing Yourself... (numerically speaking) We have said that fractions, decimals and percentages are different ways of expressing numbers, they have different uses and purposes. Write down the 3 relationship profiles between these numbers 2 to 6

75 to 100 Fractions, Decimals and Percentages Yesterday: We spent most of our time simply manipulating numbers. Changing from one number 'profile' to another. Today we are going to be looking at a bit more of how these numbers work, and what they do. Objectives MUST: order fractions according to size
SHOULD: express one number as a percentage of another

How can you tell if a fraction is going to be bigger or smaller simply by looking at these numbers? Answers 1 2 2 4 3

How could I describe 5 in relation to 10? 5 is 50 % of 10 5 is 0.5 times 10 5 is one half of ten Fractions, decimals and percentages are profiles used to explain these relationships Extension: Once you have done these, switch the numbers around and do the same again.
What do you notice?
Are there any patterns? Example: 5 is 1/2 of ten. 5 is 50 % of ten.
