Problem- Which paper towel brand, Bounty, Brawny, or Scott, will absorb the most amount of water. Hypothesis- If thickness and durability are related to the absorbing qualities of paper towels, then Bounty will absorb the most amount of water because the Uline Shipping Supply Specialist website states that Bounty "is the most absorbent towel on the market today." Independent Variable: Brand of

Water Absorbed Controls: Amount of Liquid, size of paper towel,
temperature of liquid, same amount of time paper
towel is soaked in the water, and same liquid Procedure:
1. Place 400 ml of water into
a beaker. 2. Take one brand of paper towel and
tear off one full sheet (11"x11"), 3. Place the paper towel in the
beaker for 5 seconds. 4. Remove the sheet and observe the
amount of water that is left in the beaker. 5. Record the data. 6. Repeat steps 1-5, five times for
each brand of paper towel. 7. Compare the results from the
three different brands and analyze Analysis: In the paper towel experiment,
each paper towel brand absorbed at least 46
mL of water. The most mL of water absorbed was by Brawny and the sheet absorbed 78 mL. Brawny's average amount of water absorbed is 66.2 mL. The least amount of mL absorbed was by Scott and the sheet absorbed 38 mL. Scott's average amount of water absorbed is 41.6 mL. Finally, Bounty's average amount of water absorbed is 62.2 mL. Conclusion- The hypothesis stated that if thickness and durability are related to the absorbing qualities of paper towels, then Bounty will absorb the most amount of water becasue the Uline Shipping Supply Specialist website states the Bounty "is the most absorbent towel on the market today," is incorrect because Brawny's average amount of water absorbed was 66.2 mL and Bounty's is only 62.2 mL. The student would research all brands and find how much the towels really absorb before testing them and making a hypothesis. 21st Century Skills- We used and mastered collaboration because we both did seperate parts of the project but still brought it together to make one whole project that required many different skills.
We also used and mastered critical thinking and problem solving because we had to figure out how to insert pictures into Prezi and how to work Prezi.
