By 2015, MOE would meet its target of 33,000-strong teaching force.

MOE’s goal : 30% of the teaching force to have Master’s degree by 2020.

Convergence of educational goals across the world, with emphasis on 21st CC, grounded in maths, science & literacy.

programmes with overseas institutions)

Accreditation of teachers using through a formal accreditation framework

Sponsored programmes partnering other ministries NIE is facing a completely new future scenario as never before in its history.

NIE’s financial and operating model will have to be re-examined.

NIE’s identity will evolve and need to be re-positioned.

New challenges will have to be met by new approaches. Conclusions NIE’s 5-year strategic roadmap will still be anchored by our core strengths in Quality Teacher Education, Evidence-based Research, and Talented People.


For future growth, sustainability and financial viability, our strategies have to be underpinned by the 2 new key approaches :

(a) developing new revenue streams,
