How it is used Photoshop in Todays Society Advertisements Using photoshop in ads, you can add backgrounds, digitally enhance the subject, add texts and make the picture look real while having the "fake" attribute. Magazines In magazines, we see that images look perfect
and flawless. Yes, maybe the model could be pretty already, but when photoshop is used the model becomes "Picture Perfect". Unrealistic Photos are being Produced With all the tools photoshop has to offer, the tools let the user create photos with endless possibilities. Negative Effects of Photoshop By Shawn Sayeed What is Photoshop? Photoshop is an editing software photographers use to make their ordinary photos they take, into extraordinary photos But.... What if it was used in a negative way. Body image and self image are problems americans are faced with every day. Photoshop is a great tool to use, but when photographers use it to portray something unrealistic it is not right. Kim Kardashian Tyra Banks Lady GaGa Madonna Kate Middleton Star Cover Who is Standing Up For It? Kate Winslet The British issue of GQ magazine went too far in Kate’s opinion: “The retouching is excessive. I do not look like that and more importantly I don’t desire to look like that”. Brad Pitt Pitt requested that there be no retouching on his W magazine cover, personally selecting Chuck Close a photographer known for his extremely detailed portraits that expose skin flaws Dove Dove has came out with beauty campaigns to show that natural beauty is beautiful and that even though flaws are present, people should embrace them. Kim Kardashian "I'm proud of my body and my curves and this picture coming out is probably helpful for everyone to see that just because I am on the cover of a magazine doesn't mean I'm perfect." In today's society the negative effects of Photoshop out weigh the postive ones. Companies have the ability to create these photos to appeal to the viewers that are viewing the photo but are they really appealing? Photoshop is a tool that is suppose to be used in a positive way. With the help of Kate Winslet, Brad Pitt, Dove and Kim Kardashian, taking a stand against the negative out comes of photoshop, they are aware of what is going on in society and agree that Photoshop needs to be used in a Positive manner. “Perhaps it is time for a refresher course for the media and Americans of what Photoshop was created for originally: bringing a subject more into focus, not creating works of fiction” Michael Graupman
