The National Institute of Standards and Technology has given a succinct definition that includes these basic principles:
"Cloud computing is a model for establishing a network access to a shared standard tank of configurable computing resources (network servers, storage, applications and services) that can be quickly mobilized and available by minimizing management efforts and contacts with the service provider”.

The underlying concept of cloud computing dates back to 1950
In the 1990s, telecommunications companies started to offer virtual private network (VPN)
After the dot-com bubble, Amazon played a key role in the development of cloud computing
In October 2011, Apple Inc. develops his public cloud with iCloud
A little bit of History...
The self-service application
Access to large network
Pooling resources
The definition of the National Institute of Standards and Technology identifies "five essential specifications":
Drawbacks of cloud computing:
Privacy concerns
Security concerns
Risk of data loss
Lack of control
Pros and cons
Benefits and disadvantages
Advantages of cloud computing:
Low cost
Remote access
Platform as a Service (PaaS)
Services which allow to install, configure and use our applications in the cloud
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
Service that allow to access machines and storage
Software as a Service (SaaS)
Services which allow to access any software.
Accessible through the internet
Offer customer relationship management (CRM), entreprise resource planning (ERP), human resource management (HRM)
A proprietary computing architecture that provides hosted services to a limited number of people behind a firewall, and is typically for organizations that need or want more control over their data
A service provider makes resources as an application and storage, available to the general public over the internet. Public cloud services may be free or offered on a pay-per-usage model
The uses of both private and public clouds to cater for an organization's computing needs.
