-These clubs acted as safe havens for homosexual party-goers to dance in peace and away from public discrimination

Iran Hostage Crisis - In November 1979, revolutionaries stormed the American embassy in Tehran and held 52 Americans hostage. The Carter administration tried unsuccessfully to negotiate for the hostages release.
New International Economic Order (NIEO) was an effort by third-world nations to restructure global North-South relations along lines more favorable to the latter, based on the theory that what was keeping poorer nations poor was the behavior of the wealthier countries.
