DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
A pattern of abusive and threatening behaviors that may include physical, emotional, economic and sexual violence as well as intimidation, isolation and coercion. Domestic violence is a way to establish and exert power and control over others.
According to the article, “Domestic Violence Statistics," “Domestic violence is considered one of the most pressing issues in American society.”
Statistics
Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women—more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined.

Women, ages 18 to 24 have a higher risk for physical violence from a domestic partner than women in any other age groups.

Based on reports from 10 countries, between 55-95% of women who had been physically abused by their partners had

"Because its a battle between genders in or even out of a relationship. It creates a barrier that most can't withstand because of the emotional consequence it carries, GUILT!" Tyshone Gaines, Male, 17
"Domestic violence is an issue in the community because many women are abused by their partner and are too afraid to leave them or don't know where to look for help. Some don't even know they are in a domestic relationship." Daisy, Female, 17
"Years of abuse could quickly turn into suicidal thoughts because getting beat so much will only want you to give up on life. It can even be a homicide on self-defense because of the violence. This is mainly how there are households without fathers or mothers because of the separation."
Tyshone Gaines, Male, 17
"In my opinion, the effects of years of abuse may traumatize women. Therefore, women don't seem to trust a lot of people around them."
Jennifer, Female, 18
"Do what you can, to get out of a domestic relationship."
Johnson Vo, Male, 17
