Handwritten Typography
The First Handwritten Type
Ged Palmer
Ged Palmer is a British designer who specializes in custom lettering. A member of the International Society of Typographic Designers, his fascination with letterforms began in his early years while painting graffiti. Today he creates custom lettering and design for discerning clients, armed with an extremely sharp pencil and whatever else he can get his hands on.
The Use of Handwritten Type
There is something sweet about handwritten fonts. They add an extra sense of personality and care to a design. You feel a connection to that design, something handmade and relate-able. They can bring back experiences and memories that feel real to us.

With the advances of technology through the ages and the world changing everyday, it's nice to be reminded of home, even something as simple as a form of handwritten type.

Going Gone Gorilla
One of sixty gorilla sculptures created to celebrate Bristol Zoo's 175th birthday. Creative agency, 375, commissioned us to produce custom hand drawn lettering for the gorilla relating to the bushmeat trade in Africa. The life-size sculpture was then covered in a heat-sensitive black paint to make an interactive show-piece located in the heart of the city centre.

He went to college at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins and graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design. He is now a calligrapher, hand lettering artist, and graphic designer. Brandon Rike
I’m trying to keep it simple, and not to overcomplicate things. I design shirt graphics for bands – mostly. I also do logos from time to time. Once in a great while, I will do a poster, maybe even some low-key album art. I try to stick to what I’m good at. I make letters look good. That’s my passion – tweaking letters around, getting them just right, and being able to come back to it, some time later, and still be pretty tickled with the work.
