Aloo's mother wanted the children to focus on their studies and not spend time helping her at the store.
Aloo started thinking about going to
America to study after Mr Datoo's visit.
Aloo found the names of universities in America in books and wrote to them.
- Mother tells Aloo that she cannot afford to send him to America.
- Then she becomes angry with Aloo for wanting to leave her. This greatly upets Aloo.
Mother decides to let Aloo go to America after talking to Mr Velji, a school officer.
Aloo stops at London to visit an old friend from school.
Aloo took the trouble to write to many universities in America.
- This shows his high determination in wanting to further his studies.
Aloo achieved all A's in his school examination, which shows that he is smart and is dedicated in his studies.
He had a strong ambition to become a doctor.
Aloo really knew what he wanted to do in his future and he was determined to work hard for it.
Aloo is determined to achieve his dream and hie is also a

because her husband too care of the family.
After Father passed away,

(anak derhaka) for wanting to leave her.
Mother goes to Mr Velji for advice. He confirms that the scholarship is great opportunity for Aloo.
Mother relents (mengalah) and finds the money to send Aloo to America.
Mother makes Aloo promise to not marry foreign wife and to stay away from bad habits.
Aloo writes home from London where he has stopped to visit an old schoolmate. The letter reveals his fascination (tarikan) with the foreign land.
