Backline's workshops and Talkline offer a unique model for providers and reproductive health and justice organizations, helping them to strengthen and expand the way they serve and support pregnant people.

Backline promotes unconditional and judgment-free support for the full spectrum of decisions, feelings and experiences with
pregnancy, parenting, adoption

abortion
. Through direct service and social change strategies, Backline is building a world where all people can make the reproductive decisions that are best for their lives, without coercion or limitation, and where the dignity of lived experiences is affirmed and honored.
How do we promote support?
By offering free, confidential peer counseling through our nationwide Talkline


How does the
Talkline
work?
Backline brings together counselors, educators, providers, & advocates who work in pregnancy, parenting, abortion, and adoption.

What happens in the
workshops
?
Backline connects with allied organizations and individuals in the reproductive justice movement via various social media forums, through printed outreach materials, and by hosting and promoting events intended to foster dialogue about reproductive justice issues.


How does Backline build
community
?
By building community through print and social media platforms, and through events intended to foster support for reproductive justice issues
By offering regional, web-based, and customized trainings on pregnancy options, peer counseling, abortion, adoption, pregnancy, and parenting issues.
Together they explore values, learn about current practices, and share tools and skills for offering support to people across the spectrum of pregnancy experiences and decisions.

Transforms Awareness:
Backline uses social media, research, and community dialogues to amplify the voices of diverse communities and challenge stigma. In doing so, we explore, identify, and share a bold vision of support for all reproductive decisions.

Backline breaks down silos and builds relationships across different experiences and perspectives, connecting organizations and individuals involved in all aspects of pregnancy, parenting, adoption, and abortion.

Talkline Advocates are available 5 hrs/day 7 days/week throughout all time zones to provide compassionate judgement-free support to people across the full-spectrum of pregnancy decisions and experiences.
Talkline Advocates are based in based in Portland, OR and Bloomington, IN and complete a 40 hr initial training in client-centered counseling, all aspects of pregnancy options and reproductive justice issues. Every year Talkline Advocate work with and provide support to 600 people a year in the
US and Canada."
