N So What Is MLA Format? The purpose of MLA format is to help the reader of your document to find the sources you used to acquire your information. MLA format also enables them to build on your work. What is in an MLA formatted paper ? What would a MLA formatted paper
include? spacing: all lines are double spaced (but don’t skip any lines)
font: 12 pt., Times New Roman (or some other straightforward, no-frills font)
margins: one inch on all sides
header: contains the students last name and a running page number, justified right What would a MLA formatted paper include? (cont.) the first four lines: lines 1-4 (justified left) contain the student’s name, the instructor’s name, the name of the class, and the date
title: centered, not bold, not italicized, not underline
indenting: all paragraphs are indented a half-inch
the works cited page: the title is centered, set in plain font, and begins on line one of the essay’s final page; each entry is set in hanging indent; each entry is alphabetized (by the author’s last name) What would a MLA formatted paper
