Apostrophes: Star Wars Style
What is an apostrophe?
An apostrophe is a punctuation mark ( ’ ) used to indicate either possession or the omission of letters or numbers.
Apostrophes have two main uses:
In contractions
To show possession
We are going to go over the Dos and Don'ts of apostrophes
First Use: Contractions
Use the apostrophe with contractions.
Contractions are words or phrases that have been shortened using apostrophes (don't, didn't, it's)
The apostrophe is always placed at the spot where the letter(s) has been removed.
Examples:
I
can't (can not)
wait for the next Star Wars film to come out.
Anakin Skywalker
didn't (did not)
end up living a happy life.
Jedi knights
shouldn't (should not)
love anybody.
Second Use: Possession
Use the apostrophe to show possession. Place the apostrophe before the s to show singular possession.
Example:
That is Han Solo
's
friend, Chewbacca.
The red light saber is Darth Vader
's
.
R2D2 and C-3PO
's
personalities are the comic relief of the series.
Check Point!!!!

The Skywalkers lives are filled with drama with each new generation.
"These arent the droids youre looking for."
Darth Vader didnt make the right choices when he was younger.
Obi-wan Kenobis patience with Anakin is impressive.
Jar Jar Binks voice is really annoying.
What if the thing you are showing possession for already has an "s" at the end?
If an "s" is already at the end of the word that you need to express possession for, just add the apostrophe at the end with no extra "s"
Examples:
The Ewok
s'
place of residence is in a tree village.
The Storm Trooper
