Was born and raised in German, Augsburg.
A member of the humanist circle of Thomas More.
Traveled to England in search of work in 1526.
He became attached to the England Court through Thomas Cromwell.
He was a court painter to King Henry VIII of England.
Succeeded in mastering draughtsmanship (the accurate representation of individual subject) and in composition (the organization of pictorial space, sfumato, chiaroscuro, and linear of perspective). Critical Reading
