Romeo and Juliet Project

Final Project List Post Secret Project Comic book project research paper literary analysis In this project you will use Microsoft PowerPoint to create 5 “postcards.” These post cards will be “anonymous” and tell the secret of 5 main characters from the play. You will also write one paragraph per slide on a separate Microsoft Word Document to explain which character each slide represents, and the importance of the secret the character has. The Poastsecrets project began in 2004 as an Art project. The simple concept of the project was that completely anonymous people decorate a postcard and portray a secret that they had never previously revealed. No restrictions were (or are) made on the content of the secret; only that it must be completely truthful and must never have been spoken before. Entries range from admissions of sexual misconduct and criminal activity to confessions of secret desires, embarrassing habits, hopes and dreams. Each postcard is hand made and completely unique. In this project you will create 5 postsecret postcards. Each postcard is like an artistic interpretation of the past or present, showing both style and understanding. Each postcard should be anonyms BUT I should easily be able to tell which character it is from Your postcards can contain the following items:

· Pictures

· Letters (notes between friends, ticket stubs from a date, and so on—but you will need to include information about what things mean to the character submitting the Postsecret)

· Graduation announcements or event flyers, or newspaper clippings

· Invitations (to graduation parties, birth announcements, obituaries etc.)

· Mementos

You will create the “postcards” in Microsoft PowerPoint; each post card should be one slide. Again, the more you include, the better off you'll be.

You must create one post card for Romeo, Juliet, The Nurse, and The Friar, and you must choose a fifth character for the final postcard from the list below:

1. Tybalt
2. Benvolio
3. Mercutio

Finally, in one Microsoft Word document you will write a “rationalization” paragraph for each postcard you created (for a total of 5 paragraphs.) In these paragraphs you will name the character that the slide/postcard represents and the reason you believe the secret it shares is representative of the character and how it relates to the play. In this project you will create a comic book based on the play. You may choose to do a comic book that details one scene from the play or the entire play. Your comic book must be a minimum of 3 pages (templates will be provided.) You may draw your comic book by hand or using a specific program if you have it.
In this project you will design and create your own comic book based on Romeo and Juliet. To help you with this project comic book page templates have been provided as well as selections from Understanding Comics by Scott McCloud. The requirements of the Comic Book Project are as follows:

1. The Comic book must represent either the entire play, or one important scene of the play.
2. The Comic book must be at least 5 pages long.
3. The Comic book must visually convey the meaning of the play or scene and may or may not include direct quotes from the play. You do not need to quote the play word for word; you may summarize the play, choose key quotes that express the important moments of the play, or use “Modern English” to express dialogue.
4. The Comic Book may be created by hand or using a computer graphics program. If you are not comfortable with using a computer graphics program, or your own drawings, you should choose an alternate choice.

In this project you will choose one topic from the approved list (found in the directions) and write a 2-3 page research paper with a minimum of two credible sources, one quote with intext citation from each source, and a works cited page. In this assignment you will choose one of the topics listed below to research. You will then write a two to three page paper to present your research. Your paper must include all of the following:

•Two Credible Sources

•A Works Cited Page in MLA format
