Transcript of THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF THE TRANSCONTINETAL RAI
positive effects continued...
The transcontinential Railroad was helpful to the immigrants because it allowed more immigrants to come into the country. Not only does it alllow more immigration, but it also allows them to access jobs outside of the west or even on the rail road. The Rail road was also helpful to the settlers because it allows them to get to the west quicker and safer.
Negative effects continued...
Because the buffalo were gone the Native Americans did not have an adequet diet their population began to die off. The Native Americans tried to ambush the railroad workers quite often, this led to them losing their population which was already decaying. The Natives Americans were moved into uninhabited territory such as Oklahoma and were "Americanised" as in they were given an education and were taught traditional American beliefs. This overall destroyed their native lifestyle.
the transcontinential railroad was a positive effect because it created jobs for poor citizens of the United States. This also allowed an expontintial amount of transmigration in order to live and populate the Western States of America. Through the belief of Manifest Destiny,It allowed industry to develop in the West such as: Cattle Ranching and Farming providing money for the United States economy.
when was it built and why??
The First Transcontinental Railroad in the United States was built in the 1860s, linking the well developed railway network of the Eastern coast with rapidly growing California. The main line was officially completed on May 10, 1869. the Pacific Railroad Act chartered the Central Pacific and the Union Pacific Railroad Companies, and tasked them with building a transcontinental railroad that would link the United States from east to west.
The transcontinential railroad was a negative effect for the Native Americans because it destroyed their land and homes. The bulding of the Transcontinential railroad was a negative effect because to build the Railroad that also means that the buffalo that was everywhere had to be killed off. This affected the Native Americans in a negative way because the Native Americans used buffalo for many things.
