Photosynthesis Flow Chart

Part I Part II
The Light Dependent Reactions
The Calvin Cycle
***Requires Light***
Occurs INSIDE the thylakoid membrane =------> When the water molecules split in this process- oxygen is produced
When the Light Dependent reaction is complete the following will have occurred:

1. Oxygen gas is produced

2. The electron carrier, NADPH is formed

3. Production of ATP

Occurs in the stroma

The ATP and NADPH formed in the
light dependent
reactions are then used to make high energy sugars

The cycle uses six molecules of CO2 to produce a one 6-carbon sugar.

Then removes the carbon dioxide form the air to turn it into energy rich sugar

The plant uses the sugars to meet its energy requirements and other organisms (heterotrophs) eat plants to obtain energy
