2012 Purpose The purpose of this professional development plan is to guide teachers that are new to the school district. This plan will assist in providing a safe and more secure environment in which new teachers can become established and further develop teaching and management skills. Furthermore, maximizing educational opportunities of each student. Conclusion Quality teachers are the single greatest determinant of student achievement. Knowing the subject matter, understanding how students learn, practicing effective teaching methods, and the ability to use data to drive their decisions translate into greater student achievement. Therefore, it is vitally important that all new teachers be well prepared when they begin teaching and that they continue to improve their knowledge and skills throughout their careers. Data:
