What is 3D Printing?
3D printing, also called additive manufacturing, is a process for making a physical object from a three-dimensional digital model, typically by laying down many successive thin layers of a material. BIG IDEAS!

"Tinkercad is an easy, browser-based 3D design
and modeling tool for all. Tinkercad is also your
perfect 3d printing companion – it allows you to
imagine anything, and then design it in minutes! "
"There’s a reason SketchUp is synonymous with friendly and
forgiving 3D modeling software: we don’t sacrifice usability
for the sake of functionality. Start by drawing lines and
shapes. Push and pull surfaces to turn them into 3D forms.
Stretch, copy, rotate and paint to make anything you like.
If you want to be productive within a couple of hours,
you’ve come to the right place."
"The Autodesk 123D community is a place to design, create
and share anything. No matter your technical skills and
experience, you will always have a place to get the latest tools
and information to support your adventures in 3D printing."
3D printing is becoming more common everyday. The technology is evolving fast and OTs need to jump on board! You do NOT need technical design skills! Only an idea and a few minutes to watch a simple online tutorial.

Desktop printers currently range from ~$400-$3000, but you do NOT need to own a printer. For example, my local public library charges just $.06/gram of plastic used. Everything you see here today cost less than $10 TOTAL to print.
Change objects to fit your specific needs. Adjust & readjust. Let clients participate in the process, choose their colors or design elements, and suggest improvements.
