Wang Wei Picture of the landscape in the province of Shanxi. Wang Wei is especially known for his compositions in the Mountains and Streams genre. Wang Wei, also known as Wang Youcheng, was a Han chinese poet, musician, painter and statesman during the Tang Dynasty. He was one of the most famous men of arts and letters of his time. Depending on the source he was either born in 699 or 701 in Qi, from where he moved to Puzhou where he died either in 759 or 761.
