COMPLEXITY God? If you don't know why you believe, then you don't know what you believe! ideas have consequences take ideas captive or be taken captive by ideas what's the big deal? Who was Jesus? Does God exist? What is the purpose of life? Is there an absolute truth? Is there any reason for your faith? Tacitus, a Roman Historian, wrote in about 115 A.D.
Consequently, to get rid of the report, Nero fastened the guilt and inflicted the most exquisite tortures on a class hated for their abominations, called Christians by the populace. Christus [Christ], from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilate, and a most mischievous superstition [Christ's resurrection] thus checked for the moment, again broke out not only in Judea, the first source of the evil, but even in Rome, where all things hideous and shameful from every part of the world find their center and become popular. (Strobel)

Bettenson, Henry, Documents of the Christian Church, Oxford Press, London, 1943.
In about 112 A.D. the Roman governor of what is now northern Turkey wrote to Emperor Trajan regarding the Christians in his district:

"I was never present at any trial of Christians; therefore I do not know what are the customary penalties or investigations, and what limits are observed. . . whether those who recant should be pardoned. . . whether the name itself, even if innocent of crime, should be punished, or only the crimes attaching to that name. . . . Meanwhile, this is the course that I have adopted in the case of those brought before me as Christians. I ask them if they are Christians. If they admit it I repeat the question a second and a third time, threatening capital punishment; if they persist I sentence them to death. For I do not doubt that, whatever kind of crime it may be to which they have confessed, their pertinacity and inflexible obstinacy should certainly be punished. . . the very fact of my dealing with the question led to a wider spread of the charge, and a great variety of cases were brought before me. An anonymous pamphlet was issued, containing many names. All who denied that they were or had been Christians I considered should be discharged, because they called upon the gods at my dictation and did reverence. . .and especially because they cursed Christ, a thing which it is said, genuine Christians cannot be induced to do." (Strobel) About this time there lived Jesus, a wise man, if indeed one ought to call him a man. For he was one who wrought surprising feats and was a teacher of such people as accept the truth gladly . . . He was the Messiah. When Pilate, upon hearing him accused by men of the highest standing among us, had condemned him to be crucified, those who had . . . come to love [him] did not cease. On the third day he appeared to them restored to life. For the prophets of God had prophesied these and myriads of other marvelous [things] about him . . ."

—Flavius Josephus, in The Antiquities of the Jews

(Religion) For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born. 1 Corinthians 15:3-8 Historical Records About 2000 years ago, there lived the most influential person in all of human history. So much so, that we count our years from the approximate time of his birth. He is said to be the fulfilment of prophecies centuries old. His name is Jesus, almost every major religion at least mentions him. He was born around 9-4 B.C. His ministry was around 27-30 A.D. Men have always sought after the answers to the heaviest questions in life. Before examining His claims of divinity, one must believe that there can be an absolute truth and the possibility of the existence of God. 1 Absolute Truth? Some may venture to say that out of all the worldviews, that there cannot be one absolute truth. One would be forced to make the claim: "There are no absolute truths." However, that statement about there being no absolutes would be an absolute, contradicting itself. Reason Origin of the Universe
(1st cause?)
Non-personal beings cannot will anything to happen, they just react to stimuli. naturalistic viewpoint
the universe was created between 13 and 20 billion years ago from the random, cosmic explosion (or expansion) of a subatomic ball that hurled space, time, matter and energy in all directions. Everything - the whole universe -- came from an initial speck of infinite density (also known as a "singularity"). This speck (existing outside of space and time) appeared from no where, for no reason, only to explode (start expanding) all of a sudden. Over a period of approximately 10 billion years, this newly created space, time, matter and energy evolved into remarkably-designed and fully-functional stars, galaxies and planets, including our earth. the universe had
a beginning . "The question about God is not merely a question about another entity but a question about the character of the universe as a whole. The rejection of the cosmological argument implicitly carries with it a commitment to a rival metaphysical view, such as pantheism or naturalism. Ultimately, the question is not, 'Can God's existence be proved?' but 'Which metaphysical view is most plausible?'"

- C. Stephen Evans "The question about God is not merely a question about another entity but a question about the character of the universe as a whole. The rejection of the cosmological argument implicitly carries with it a commitment to a rival metaphysical view, such as pantheism or naturalism. - C. Stephen Evans Every effect must have a cause. (not "everything must have a cause") nothing something? why would anything exist unless it had a purpose for existing? everything that exists
has an explanation for its existence exists by its own necessity exist by an outside cause The universe does not have to exist. So it can't be by its' own necessity. Must be an exact beginning of time. It cannot be an infinite number of moments before today. If so, we would've never gotten to today.
Therefore, time, like space had a beginning. Chance or Design? With intelligence, things go from disorder to order. Without intelligence, even the order that is there disorganizes. Works Cited multiple universes? There is no proof of any alternate universes.

The only way that a naturalist can account for the fine-tuning of life is to claim multiple universes. "For organic life to exist, the fundamental regularities and constants of physics-the speed of light, the gravitational constant, the strength of the weak and strong nuclear forces- must all have values that together fall into an extremely narrow range." (Strobel) infinite monkey theorem Multiple Universes monkeys banging on a keyboard = If a monkey was given a keyboard and started banging on it for even billions of years, any rational person would conclude that it is ridiculous to think that somehow that the monkey could compose all of Shakespeare's plays. Much less all of the information in a single cell in order for it to eat, move, reproduce, remove waste, fix itself, and grow.
The probability of the first 20 letters of a piece, ignoring capital letters and punctuation marks, being typed randomly is 1 in 2 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000. (thats 26^20). "Even if the observable universe were filled with monkeys the size of atoms typing from now until the heat death of the universe, their total probability to produce a single instance of Hamlet would still be many orders of magnitude less than one in 10^183,800."

- Charles Darwin (1809-1882) What part of the rat trap can be taken out and it still be able to trap rats? From a historical standpoint, the fossil record does not show evidence of slow gradual changes. (Schroeder) The fossil record shows a more sudden appearance of very complex animals, marked in the Cambrian Explosion. (Strobel) When Darwin made his theory in the Origin of Species, his understanding of a cell was simply a "blob of protoplasm". "If we nudge one of these constants just a few percent in one
direction, stars burn out within a million years of their
formation, and there is no time for evolution. If we nudge it
a few percent in the other direction, then no elements heavier
than helium form. No carbon, no life. Not even any chemistry.
No complexity at all." - Dr. David D. Deutsch, Institute of
Mathematics, Oxford University (Strobel) "The flagellum's propeller can spin at 10,000 rpm...can stop spinning within a quarter turn and instantly start spinning the other way at 10,000 rpm." element #6 building block of life For carbon to be made, radioactive beryllium (element 4) must absorb a nucleus of helium (2). "The mean life of this radioactive beryllium atom is 10^-16 seconds." .000000000000001 seconds "In that sliver of time, a helium nucleus must find, collide with, and be absorbed by the beryllium nucleus, thus metamorphosing into the atomic staff of life." And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and noone comes to the Father but through Me."
-Jesus Some may speculate that it was just a made up story. However, such a claim would have no historical foundation to support the claim. As we see in the 1st section of the presentation, it is reasonable to conclude that an
intelligent and personal Creator exists. Therefore, for Him to raise Jesus from the dead
would be like picking up sticks in comparison to bringing matter into existence. Indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. (science) after all the research that I have done on this subject, the question I had asked from the start (what is truth?) I now realize that I was asking the wrong thing i now have learned that the truth is not found in a denomination, but in a person-Jesus Christ. Experiencing Truth is not done by rituals or cannot be earned, it is only by responding with the same thing that was offered, love.
