Transcript of Healthy Church: The Gospel

". . .They will find no place, where they can remain, and rest, and take breath for one minute: for they will be tormented with fire and brimstone; and they will have no rest day nor night forever and ever." Jonathan Edwards Healthy Church: Who is Jesus? The Expected One Fully God Fully Man This is imperative for the gospel because it established the mercy, grace, and advocacy work of Jesus Christ. Hebrews 4:15-16 “When the Church first instituted the feast of Christmas, however, it never did so on the assumption that December 25 was Jesus’ birthday! Rather, Christmas was instituted as a celebration, not of a birthday, but of the incarnation of the Son of God. It matters not when God became man, but that God become man: both body and soul.” Greg Johnson Luke 1:35

“And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” This is imperative for the gospel because it established His ability to provide a sinless sacrifice. Mark 1:9-11

“9 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. 10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: 11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." 2 Corinthians 5:19-21

“19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” What did Jesus do? Died for sins Bore God's wrath Rose from the dead Galatians 3:13-14

“13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: 14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith." Isaiah 53:3-5

“3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” Shows the power of God to resurrect His followers Proves the power of Christ to fulfill His promises Establishes the advocacy ministry of Christ Healthy Church:
