Declaration of Breda Written by Charles II in 1660 Promises a full pardon for all those who opposed the crown, if and when they pledged their full loyalty to "King" Charles II within fourty days. Advocated for a one-party system declaring that "all notes of discord, separation, and difference of parties be utterly abolished". Parliament keeps much of their gained power, now controls the levying of taxes. Charles declares himself rightful "King of England, Scotland, France, and Ireland". Charles explained his want of a religiously tollerant England, stating " no man shall be disquited or called in question for differences of opinion in matter of religion". The End
