Confirmation in Salvation History Timeline
Old Testaments Prophets
-They prophesied that the Spirit of the Lord would rest on the hoped for Messiah for his saving mission and that the Spirit would be given to the Messianic People.

The descent of the Holy Spirit on Jesus at his baptism was Father's sign to everyone that this was the the Messiah, the Son of God.
Jesus' Promises the Spirit
On several occasions Jesus promised the outpouring of the Spirit to His Apostles.

After His resurrection ..
Sacrament of Confirmation
"Now when the apostles at Jerusalem heard that Samar′ia had received the word of God, they sent to them Peter and John, 15 who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit; 16 for it had not yet fallen on any of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then they laid their hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit. "Acts 8:13-17
Jesus' Baptism
The Cross
Jesus made it possible for all to receive the Spirit with His death.

Pentecost
Isaiah 11:2

2 The spirit of the Lord shall rest on him,
the spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the spirit of counsel and might,
the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.
The spirit of the Lord God is upon me,
because the Lord has anointed me;
he has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed,
to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and release to the prisoners;
John the Baptist said this about Jesus' Baptism: "I myself did not know him; but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ 34 And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.” John 1 : 33- 34
And when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious how or what you are to answer or what you are to say; 12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.”
Jesus stood up and proclaimed, “If any one thirst, let him come to me and drink. 38 He who believes in me, as[a] the scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water.’” 39 Now this he said about the Spirit, which those who believed in him were to receive; for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samar′ia and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1 : 8
Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.
19So when it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20And when He had said this, He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciples then rejoiced when they saw the Lord. 21So Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them,
“Receive the Holy Spirit. 23“If you forgive the sins of any, their sins have been forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained.”
Jesus fulfilled his promise of the Spirit first on Easter Sunday when He breathed the Spirit on the Apostles who were hiding in the upper room.
After Jesus' Ascension, the Apostles received the Spirit in tongues of fire at Pentecost. They were transformed from fearfully hiding in the upper room to courageously witnessing to the resurrection of Jesus.

"
On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them; and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.
"
Acts 19:5-6
From then on the Apostles would lay their hands on the newly baptized, and they would receive the Holy Spirit, like at Pentecost. This is the sacrament of confirmation still given in the church today by the Apostle's successors. (bishops)
About the timeline...
You only need to write down what is in black. Many Bible Passages will be in blue and you do not need to write them down.
Its a good idea to make it a vertical timeline in your notes.
