BIOLOGY EOC EXAM
WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW?
The state of Florida has instituted an End-of-Course (EOC) Assessment for Biology students designed to measure student achievement of the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards. The assessment is scheduled to take place November 28-December 19, 2012 (winter), April 29-May 10, 2013 (spring) and July 22-August 9, 2013 (summer), with the exact date to be determined by your district.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
AM I REQUIRED TO TAKE THE BIOLOGY EOC EXAM?
Yes if you are enrolled in Biology 1, Biology 1 Honors, or an equivalent course during the 2012-2013 school year (including grade forgiveness); or you took the assessment but did not pass it during the last testing cycle
The assessment will be delivered via a computer-based testing platform at your assigned testing location. Please note that accommodations will be provided for students with documented IEP or 504 plans on file with their school district.
HOW WILL THE ASSESSMENT AFFECT MY GRADE?
Beginning with the 2012-2013 school year, students in 9th grade and below must pass the EOC to receive credit for the course and graduate from high school.
If the student entered 9th grade during the 2011-2012 school year, the EOC Assessment will still account for 30% of the student’s final Biology grade. Students will receive a grade for their coursework, but the final transcript grade will be recalculated using the district’s chosen measure for including the assessment results
