Transcript of 4,Carlos Chagas
Carlos Chagas was born in 1879 in a small city in Minas Gerais, Brazil. His family wasn't rich because his father was a coffee maker and his mother didn't have a job. But that wasn't a problem because he still had a dream and he worked hard for it.
In 1909, while Carlos Chagas and his colleague were helping people who had Malaria, he discovered a disease that was transmitted by a parasite that would bite people while they were sleeping and it would make them sick, which was called ''Chagas Disease''. This disease causes heart failure and is almost impossible to cure it. With that discovery Carlos Chagas won the National Academy of Medicine and he was twice nominated for the Nobel Prize of Medicine but he never received. Carlos Chagas died in 1934 at the age of 55.
After Carlos Chagas graduated, he started working with his friend and colleague Oswaldo Cruz who was a Physician. They worked together to help the people who were suffering from ''Malaria'' and many other cases, and that was when he made his discovery.
When Carlos Chagas grew up, he decided to study Mining Engineering at Rio de Janeiro, but later he changed to a Medical School and he became a Physic and Bacteriologist.
