Campbell suspended him for the remainder of the 1954–55 season, including the playoffs
Protestation of Montreals fans about suspension because too severe
Campbell apparition for the Canadiens' first game after Richard's suspension provoked a riot that spilled into the streets
Riot caused an estimated $100,000 in property damage, 37 injuries, and 100 arrests
